Most spiritual business owners who undercharge know they undercharge. They have read the books, done the exercises, raised their prices once and then lowered them again when the anxiety became unmanageable. They know the number they should be charging, but they cannot hold it.
The standard response to this in the business coaching world is to call it a ”mindset problem.” You have limiting beliefs about money. You need to shift your money mindset. You need to affirm that you are worth it. And there is truth in this, but it is incomplete truth, and the incompleteness is exactly what makes the advice so persistently unhelpful. People do the mindset work and still cannot hold their prices. They affirm their worth daily and still wince when they say the number. Something is not being reached.
Here is what is actually going on.
The Surface Layer: Conditioning
The most visible layer of undercharging is cultural conditioning, and it is real and significant. Women have been systematically taught to make their needs small, their desires negotiable, and their contribution to the world something that should be motivated by selflessness rather than compensated at full value. The spiritual and healing space adds another layer: the idea that money and genuine service are in tension, that charging substantially for spiritual work is in some way a corruption of it, that the most spiritually evolved person is the one who gives most freely.
These are beliefs. They can be identified, examined, and consciously rejected. The mindset work is not wrong. It is just insufficient on its own, because the beliefs have not only been held consciously. They have been held in the body, in the nervous system, and in the energetic field. And those are not the same location as the mind, and they do not respond to the same interventions.
The Deeper Layer: Ancestral Inheritance
Beneath the cultural conditioning, for most women, there is something older. An inherited energetic pattern around money, safety, and what a woman is allowed to claim for herself.
For most women alive today, their mothers and grandmothers were economically dependent. Their survival required making themselves agreeable, their needs manageable, their desires secondary. The woman who asked for too much, who demanded what she was worth, who refused to make herself financially small, risked losing the safety that economic dependence provided. These were not abstract values, they were survival strategies.
Those strategies get passed down, but not through explicit teaching. The transmission of these strategies occurred through the body, through the nervous system, through the energetic field. The granddaughter who has every intellectual reason to charge her worth still feels the familiar contraction in her chest when she says the number out loud. The great-granddaughter who has built a genuinely excellent business still finds herself offering discounts before anyone has asked for them. The pattern is running below the level of conscious belief.
This is why affirmations and mindset work reach a limit: They operate at the cognitive level. The pattern is not primarily cognitive. It is energetic and somatic: it lives in the body, in the nervous system, in the inherited field, therefore reaching it requires working at that level.
The Practical Layer: What Undercharging Actually Costs
Beyond the psychological and energetic dimensions, undercharging has concrete practical consequences that compound over time. The most obvious is revenue: charging sixty percent of your true value, across a full year of client work, is an enormous financial cost that accumulates silently.
Less obvious but equally significant: undercharging attracts undercharging clients. Clients who arrive having paid below the true value of the work arrive in a different energetic relationship to it. They are more likely to undervalue what is delivered, more likely to negotiate further, more likely to consume more than the container holds, and less likely to do the integration work that produces the outcomes they want. The pricing is not just about your revenue. It is a filter: What you charge determines who arrives and in what relationship to the work.
There is also the energetic cost of chronic undercharging: the resentment that builds when you are consistently delivering more than you are receiving, the way that resentment leaks into the quality of your presence with clients, the slow erosion of the genuine love for the work that originally motivated you to build the business.
What Genuinely Shifts It
Conscious work on the beliefs is necessary but not sufficient. What completes the shift is working at the level where the pattern actually lives: the body, the nervous system, the energetic field.
Somatic work can reach the nervous system layer. Energy healing can reach the energetic field layer. And energetic working at the level of the pattern itself, addressing the ancestral inheritance and the contracted places in the field where the block lives, can shift what neither cognitive nor somatic work alone can fully reach.
The shift, when it happens, is felt distinctly. Not as a new belief adopted, but as a different felt sense: the ability to say the number without the internal wince. The capacity to hold silence after stating it rather than immediately explaining or discounting. A different quality of receiving when a client says yes at the full price.
Clients who have done this work consistently report the same thing: it does not feel like convincing yourself. It feels like something that was previously contracted finally releasing. The worth was always there. The pattern that was obscuring it has simply cleared.
Undercharging is not evidence that you do not know your worth. It is evidence that something is preventing you from holding it. Those are different problems and they require different solutions.
In my practice, I work with pricing and worth blocks at the energetic level through the Price Your Worth Spell, which specifically addresses the contracted patterns around charging and receiving that sit below the level of conscious belief. The working is most effective when paired with genuine clarity about what your work is actually worth and a willingness to hold that knowing once the block clears.
