Every animal is a whole and sovereign being. Some are gentle souls who melt into our laps, some are cantankerous old curmudgeons who tolerate us on their own terms, and some are scaled, many-legged, or wild creatures who owe us nothing at all. Each one carries its own spirit, its own purpose, and its own inherent worth. Loving an animal means honouring exactly who they are, and when one of them falls ill, the fear and helplessness we feel is among the deepest pain there is.
The Familiar’s Blessing is a commissioned healing working for your animal companion. Over the course of the working I send healing, vitality, comfort, and ease to your beloved creature, woven with the same care and craft that anchors every commission that leaves my altar.
This working also honours a truth that deserves to be spoken plainly: sometimes it is our animals’ time to leave us. Their lives are shorter than ours, and loving them means loving them all the way to the threshold and beyond. The Familiar’s Blessing holds both currents. While your companion is with you, the working strengthens, soothes, and supports them. If their spirit chooses to cross during or after the working, the magick shifts its purpose and carries them gently, wrapping them in love for the journey and wrapping you in comfort for the grief. Either way, the working completes itself in full. Your commission is never wasted, because love is never wasted.
Hekate, who stands at the heart of my practice, is the ancient guardian of thresholds and the keeper of hounds. Work of this kind belongs to her domain, and it is work I consider sacred.
For every kind of creature
This working welcomes every animal: dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, rodents, and invertebrates alike. The snake who strikes at the glass and the spider who prefers her solitude deserve healing as fully as the softest lap cat. Temperament and species place every creature equally before the altar.
The Familiar’s Blessing also extends to wild animals under your care or within your world: the injured hedgehog you found in the garden, the rescue bird you are rehabilitating, the fox you have watched cross your land for years. Wildness places an animal closer to the old powers, and workings for wild creatures carry their own particular beauty.
If your companion crosses
Should your beloved animal cross the threshold during or after our working together, I place a white candle on my altar in their honour and speak their name as it burns. The working then turns its healing current toward you, sending comfort, steadiness, and love to support you through your grief. Your companion receives safe passage. You receive care. Both of you remain held within the working until the candle burns down.
This working is intentionally discounted
My standard commissions begin at a significantly higher investment. The Familiar’s Blessing is offered at 89 CHF because animals hold a special place in my heart and in my practice. I share my home and my craft with my rescue dog Kronos, and I foster dogs as part of my personal spiritual practice with Hekate, keeper of hounds, offering shelter and care to her animals as an act of continual service. I know exactly what it feels like to love a creature beyond all reason. This offering exists so that anyone who loves an animal the way I do can afford real, devoted spellwork when their companion needs it most. The price covers my materials and my time at the altar. The rest is love.
What is included
- A dedicated healing working performed on my altar for your animal companion
- Both currents held within a single working: healing and vitality while they are with you, blessing and gentle passage if their time comes
- Should your companion cross, a white candle rite in their honour and grief healing sent to you, held within the same working
- A completion email when the working closes, including a photo and a reflection on how the working unfolded

This working sends healing, comfort, and blessing alongside medical treatment, and honours whatever path your companion’s spirit takes. Please continue to follow the guidance of your vet in all matters of your animal’s physical care.
What I need from you
When you commission The Familiar’s Blessing, you please share:
- Your animal’s name (or how you refer to them), species, and age if known
- A photograph of your companion, if you have one
- A brief description of what is happening with their health
- A few words about what this animal means to you
That last one matters. Your care for this creature is the living thread the working is woven around, and it holds whether your animal curls into your lap or watches you from behind glass with ancient, indifferent eyes.
For companions who have already crossed
If your beloved animal has recently passed, The Familiar’s Blessing can be commissioned as a passage working, sending love, gratitude, and safe crossing to their spirit and comfort to your grieving heart. Simply note this when you book.
